The entertainment or games room of the house or property can be the focal point of your evening when entertaining guests, and as a result is often one of the most lavishly laid out areas. When the calendar comes round to that night that you are host to the summer party, you want your guests to be entertained and be talking about your party for a long time.
Often the safest way (designing a games room that can’t be wrong because its virtually a pub room / bar) of designing the games room is to imitate an American style bar. Spotlight in the ceiling, red and black leather seating, dark marble bar and flooring and a small WC area are all required.
Ensure that if your guests suddenly start talking about a funny comedian which you happen to have on DVD then they aren’t going to be disappointed with the fact that you cant play movies in your games room. Have at least one large television (preferably plasma/LCD) in the room, this adds to the feeling of being a pub/bar. Ensure you have satellite television and good speakers which give off high quality sound and music if required.
Dance time is key to the success of the games room evening. Have an MP3 jukebox with all your friends and families favourite hits to keep the party swinging. Make sure everybody knows where it is by ensuring it is located in a focal point in the room.
Have cool furniture and most important of all good bar games. Have a pool table or football table to keep the guests entertained. Possibly have a poker area for the gents who drink scotch and smoke cigars. Have arcade style games to really give off the feel of a true games room area which will have your friends and family wowing.
